Family Files Lawsuit After Passenger Dies on Royal Caribbean Cruise
A lawsuit has been filed against Royal Caribbean following the death of a passenger aboard Navigator of the Seas in December 2024.
According to court documents, 35-year-old Michael Virgil was served at least 33 alcoholic drinks before his behavior became disruptive. He was later seen attempting to break down a stateroom door, yelling, and struggling with crew members.
Ship security restrained him, and medical staff administered a sedative to calm him. Virgil died shortly afterward.
His fiancée, Connie Aguilar, has filed a lawsuit seeking damages, stating that the family had boarded with their 7-year-old son and were initially directed to wait at a bar because their stateroom was not ready.
The FBI is investigating the incident, which is standard procedure for deaths involving U.S. citizens at sea.
