New Marina for Yacht Charter Enthusiasts on Lefkada Island

Good news for yacht lovers cruising the Ionian Sea — Lefkada Island has just welcomed a brand-new marina in Nydri, adding fresh energy to the region’s already vibrant maritime tourism scene.

With an investment exceeding €3.5 million, this 73-berth facility is designed to accommodate yachts up to 15m (49ft) in length. It’s part of a wider strategy under the Interreg VI-A Greece-Italy programme, aimed at boosting marine tourism infrastructure across the Ionian Islands.

Lefkada has long been a favourite among yacht charter enthusiasts, offering easy connections to Corfu, Paxos, and the beautiful bays of Thesprotia. The new Nydri marina marks the beginning of a regional expansion, with two more marina projects planned for Lefkada — including a 100-berth facility at Vassiliki.

Looking ahead, plans are also taking shape for a 400-berth marina near Palairos on the mainland and a much larger 800+ berth development at Vliho Bay, which, if realized, would rank as Greece’s third-largest marina with an estimated €50 million investment.

For sailors and charter companies, this means more options, better infrastructure, and a stronger network of destinations throughout the Ionian. Lefkada’s latest addition is a welcome sign of the island’s growing appeal as a prime yachting hub in the eastern Mediterranean.
