Larry Ellison Becomes World’s Richest Person — and His Superyachts
Larry Ellison, now the world’s richest man, owns several impressive superyachts — but none are available for charter.
Larry Ellison has overtaken Elon Musk to become the wealthiest person in the world, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. His fortune jumped by an astonishing $100 billion in just one day on Wednesday, propelling him past Musk, who had long held the top spot.
At 81, the Oracle co-founder and largest individual shareholder benefited from a record surge in Oracle shares — the company’s biggest one-day rise since 1992. Bloomberg now estimates Ellison’s net worth at around $393 billion, ahead of Musk’s $385 billion.
Accoring to Superyachtfan, Larry Ellison is famous for being a serial yacht owner, but he usually owns one large yacht at a time rather than keeping a whole fleet.
Over the years, he has owned several iconic yachts, including:
Non of them available for yacht charter at the moment.
Ronin – 58m Lürssen (delivered 1993) 2018 Refit
Katana (later renamed Zeus) – 75m Blohm & Voss
Rising Sun – 138m Lürssen (co-owned with David Geffen for a time, later sold to Geffen)
Musashi – 88m Feadship (delivered 2011, inspired by Japanese culture)
As of now, Ellison is most closely linked with the 88m Feadship Musashi, which is considered his current flagship.
So, technically, he has one major superyacht at present (Musashi), but throughout his life he has owned at least four major yachts.
Oracle, Sailing, and the America’s Cup
Beyond his yachts, Ellison has been deeply involved in competitive sailing. As the backer of Oracle Team USA, he led the syndicate to multiple victories in the prestigious America’s Cup. However, following an unsuccessful title defense in 2017, Oracle Team USA ended its 15-year run by opting out of the 36th America’s Cup.
Philanthropy and Wealth
While his current fortune is estimated at $393 billion, Ellison is also known for his philanthropy. As a signatory of the Giving Pledge, he has donated generously to medical research and educational initiatives, reflecting his commitment to science and social progress.
