What to Do When Bees Invade Your Perfect Boat Day?
In general, bays near fertile lands, dense vegetation, and blooming flowers are more likely to attract bees. Popular spots like Gökova in Turkey, Paleokastritsa in Greece, Porto Venere in Italy fit this description. These beautiful locations are favored by boaters, even though they may occasionally attract bees due to their rich natural surroundings.
Imagine you're anchored in a beautiful, secluded bay, surrounded by crystal-clear water and stunning scenery. The sun is setting, casting a warm glow over the landscape as you relax on your boat's deck. It feels like paradise - until a swarm of bees decides to join the party.
What do you do when your perfect day on the water is interrupted by these unexpected guests?
First, stay calm. Bees are usually not aggressive unless provoked, so avoid sudden movements or swatting at them. They might just be attracted to something on board, like sweet drinks or snacks.
If the bees persist, try creating a little smoke, as bees are naturally repelled by it. Alternatively, burn some coffee, the smoke disturbs the bees. If possible, gently steer the boat to a different location, or turn on more sailor's lights to help divert their attention.
If the bees become too aggressive, consider calling a professional for help.
And to prevent future visits, store food and drinks in sealed containers and clean up spills immediately.
Here are a few other bays where bees might be attracted due to their natural surroundings:

2. La Maddalena Archipelago, Sardinia, Italy

Some bays in the Galápagos, like Gardner Bay, have unique flora that can attract bees, particularly in areas with flowering plants.
