How often should a boat really be serviced?

Regular maintenance is the key to safety, reliability and a long service life for your boat. As a general rule, it is advisable to carry out a thorough inspection of your boat at least once a year – ideally before the start of the season.

During this process, the engine, battery, on-board electrical system, hull, propeller, as well as lines and safety equipment should be checked. Anyone who uses their boat frequently or sails in salt water should also check individual components such as the engine, propulsion system and anti-corrosion protection during the session. It is also worth carrying out a quick check after every trip. Removing dirt, checking the condition of the lines and inspecting the boat for any damage – this allows minor faults to be identified early on and costly repairs to be avoided. Consistent maintenance not only keeps the boat in good technical condition, but also ensures greater safety and more enjoyment on the water.
