How much does it cost to charter a yacht in Turkey?
The price varies depending on some elements such as yacht type, duration and time of year. Prices for a regular gulet, the traditional wooden yacht common in the Mediterranean, start at around €1,000 per day for smaller boats that accommodate up to eight people. For luxury gulets or motor yachts with first-class amenities, prices range from €5,000 to €20,000 per day. Bareboat charters, where you can use the yacht yourself if you have a boating licence, are usually a little more affordable, starting from €300-500 per day, plus extras such as fuel and provisions.
The high season from June to September has the highest rates, while early spring and late fall are the most economical times. Some offers include crew service, meals and water sports equipment, while others charge extra.
Where is it cheapest to charter a yacht in Turkey?
Marmaris and Bodrum are the destinations where you can find the cheapest prices, as the offer is very large there. Many traditional boats called gulets are available. Opting for shared cabin gulet cruises in these areas can be particularly budget-friendly with prices starting from around €500-800 per person per week. However, if you want to charter a yacht for educational purposes such as learning to sail, Istanbul and Çanakkale would be the cheapest destinations.
Do I need a boat license in Turkey?
Yes, you need a valid boat license to legally skipper a yacht in Turkey, but most of the companies accept a satisfactory sailing certificate, an example is the ICC (International Certificate of Competence). If you do not have such a certificate, you can still go on a yacht vacation, you must hire the boat with a skipper. A license is not required for smaller, non-motorized boats or dinghies, which are usually used on the coast.
What are the yacht fuel prices in Turkey?
Prices of yacht fuel in Turkey depend on a variety of different factors: current world prices of oil, marina location, and season. Large yacht fuel, often diesel, was 18-24 TRY per liter. Gasoline (Petrol) for smaller boats is about 20–30 TRY per liter. The prices of fuel are always higher at popular marinas and usually vary based on the season. Generally speaking, fuel prices in Turkey tend to be a little higher than the land-based fuel prices due to the increased costs at the marina pumps and the tanker deliveries.
Is there tax free fuel for yacts in Turkey?
Commercial boats and charter yachts leaving for abroad can take tax-free transit fuel that shall not be used within Turkish territorial waters. In case the boat comes back before consumption of the fuel, the remaining fuel is taxed.
